Kwanzaa is a celebration and reflection of our past struggles and hope for the future in the Black community.
Like many Black Americans who’s culture has been “white-washed” over centuries, we often find that we feel disconnected from our ancestors, traditions, and culture. Often times we feel lost and even feel like we don’t have our own culture and traditions. We feel out of place amidst the euro-centric favored representations of “St. Nicholas” and the commercialism that intensifies over the holiday season.
