JayLaTay and EXHALE Bring the Fall Garden[ing] Party Vibes to Philly.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — On September 27th, EXHALE Philly returns with its signature blend of cannabis culture, wellness, and garden ambiance—but this time in collaboration with Philly party vet JayLaTay Entertainment adding a grown and sexy flair to the garden-esque annual event tour.

The Philadelphia event producers recently re-sparked their shared commitment to community, culture, and the idea that cannabis events have the potential to be the catalyst for creating spaces where people can authentically come together. EXHALE’S motto: “Everyone should have access to community and wellness spaces as their whole selves,” continues to be the grounding force of the tour that originated in Philadelphia as political ballots shifted heavily to cannabis legislation.

When EXHALE first launched it was the only BIPOC & LGBTQ Centered Cannabis consumption event in Philadelphia and brought visibility to the critical work of organizations such as Free My Weedman and Black Cannabis Week. Connecting event-goers with the very organizations affecting legislative change and accountability in the evolving legal cannabis market.

HYGH (Hope You Get Home) at EXHALE Philly

Established in 2022, EXHALE Philly was created at the intersection of cannabis community, wellness, and LGBTQ+ inclusivity. From its inception, EXHALE Philly has focused on creating welcoming, intentional spaces where the concept of community & inclusivity is reflected in event guidelines, partnerships, and curated local business participation.

At its inception, Jeremy Taylor, known as JayLaTay, was the first DJ to provide the LIVE soundtrack for EXHALE Philly. The foreshadowing couldn’t have been more perfect because years later the former event partners reunited to maximize the collective impact that EXHALE organizers have sought.

This new partnership builds on that original connection while also continuing a relationship that began years prior in the Philadelphia LGBTQ party scene with SWEAT Philly. While that partnership was eventually dissolved, it was at that time that EXHALE co-founder Fame Neal realized that the LGBTQ community needed more than dance parties. “We were getting thousands of party-goers and I’m like: ‘Why aren’t we meeting them where they’re at with resources? Harm reduction? Wellness Activations? Our community deserves more.”

Cannabis has always officially and unofficially been a part of the LGBTQ scene. From sparking up at KiKi’s to early AIDS advocacy efforts, weed is an integral part of the culture and well being of our communities. While health insurance and affordable access to therapy and pharmaceuticals hasn’t always been within reach—cannabis has always been a plug away. Naturally, marginalized people have traditionally self medicated and relied on community to procure their plant medicine.

Now, EXHALE Philly and JayLaTay Entertainment are bringing that same respect for the plant and its history in the Black, Latinx, & LGBTQ Communities into a new chapter where collective wellness is the goal.

For EXHALE Philly, the partnership represents a return to its roots while creating room for what comes next. JayLaTay was there at the beginning, helping set the tone for EXHALE Philly’s first experiences, and the organizations have continued to find opportunities to collaborate through the years.

“We’re excited to build on a relationship that started at the very beginning,” said EXHALE Philly. “JayLaTay was our first DJ, so this partnership feels full-circle. We’re excited to continue creating spaces where people can come as they are, connect with one another, and simply exhale.”

For JayLaTay Entertainment, the collaboration is a natural extension of Jeremy Taylor’s longstanding connection to EXHALE Philly and his commitment to Philadelphia’s LGBTQ community.

“Being the first DJ for EXHALE Philly is something I’ll always remember,” said Jeremy Taylor. “To now officially build on that relationship years later means a lot. We’ve already seen what we can create together and I’m excited about where we can take it next. Philadelphia has always been at the heart of what I do, and this partnership is about creating experiences that feel authentic to the city and the people who make it special.”
