Pharmer Cabrona Teaches Cannabis Cultivation at Padre Plaza Community Garden.

EXHALE NYC Welcomes Cannabis Cultivation Educator Rachele Sanchez, aka Pharmer Cabrona, for a Special Soil for the Soul Grow at Home Workshop.

NEW YORK, NY — On August 15, EXHALE NYC returns with its signature blend of cannabis culture, wellness, education, and community connection, featuring a special cultivation workshop led by renowned educator and cultivation specialist Rachele Sanchez, a.k.a Pharmer Cabrona, founder of Heavenly Herbs Workshops.

Hosted at Padre Plaza Community Garden, EXHALE NYC is a celebration of cannabis empowerment that centers Black, Brown, Latinx, and Indigenous communities. Immersed in the award winning garden, guests will enjoy a day of poetry, sound baths, infused brunch, live DJs, and intentional community gathering in a private, pro-flower safe space.

As part of this year’s programming, Sanchez will lead a beginner-friendly 45-minute Seed-to-Harvest Grow Workshop, providing attendees with practical knowledge and foundational skills for cultivating cannabis at home. The workshop is available through the EXHALE NYC Grow Pass at checkout and is designed to empower both aspiring and first-time growers with confidence, clarity, and respect for the plant.

What makes Sanchez’s work especially meaningful is her deep personal and cultural connection to cannabis. Born and raised in South Florida, she first began cultivating cannabis as a hobby while living in a 400-square-foot studio apartment in Washington, D.C. Through years of hands-on learning and experimentation, what began as curiosity evolved into a profound relationship with the plant rooted in care, intention, and wellness.

As she shared her cultivation journey with family members, Sanchez uncovered a powerful connection to her Mexican heritage. She learned that her great-grandmother in Mexico cultivated cannabis alongside other medicinal plants used in traditional healing teas, while her grandfather also grew the plant and utilized its roots to help ease arthritis pain. Furthermore, her mother was born in the Bronx creating an even more meaningful connection to the Bronx garden. These family traditions deepened Sanchez’s commitment to preserving ancestral plant knowledge and honoring the cultural and medicinal significance of cannabis.

“Learning that cannabis cultivation was part of my family’s history transformed the way I viewed the plant,” said Sanchez. “It became more than cultivation—it became a way to reconnect with my ancestors, preserve cultural knowledge, and share that wisdom with others.”

Today, Sanchez combines expertise gained through home-grow consulting and experience in large-scale commercial cultivation operations. Through Heavenly Herbs Workshops, she creates welcoming educational spaces where technical cultivation knowledge becomes accessible, engaging, and community-centered.

Her mission focuses on sustainable growing practices, food sovereignty, wellness, and community empowerment—helping home growers build self-reliance and stronger relationships with the natural world through hands-on education and consulting.

EXHALE NYC organizers believe Sanchez’s workshop perfectly reflects the event’s mission to celebrate plant medicine as a tool for healing, education, culture, and community.

“Rachele embodies the spirit of our Soil for the Soul workshops we hold in NYC,” organizers said. “Her work bridges ancestral traditions, modern cultivation expertise, and community empowerment in a way that honors the plant and the people connected to it.”

For a limited time you can purchase the Grow Workshop through Heavenly Herbs and get FREE General Admission (Garden Pass) to EXHALE NYC. Register early, as space for the grow workshop is limited.
