Just Announced: Florida native, Jackie Sanchez will hit the stage in Miami to bring some laughter and healing to the South Florida community. Sanchez was spotted last year at the Purwell Hemp & Wellness Festival openly discussing her cannabis advocacy and love for the plant medicine. The EXHALE series’ mission is to destigmatize cannabis use in the Black and Latinx communities—and especially women so Sanchez’s approach to addressing weed within a social context is refreshing. Meanwhile, as Florida continues its racially oppressive streak of induced, historical amnesia, laughter seems like the best interim medicine for the job. Well…second best. The community event brings together cannabis enthusiasts and talent who get a “high” off of helping organizations like Esquina De Abuela—an artist and youth refuge in Allapatah facing foreclosure.

Esquina De Abuela was established in 1986 by Cubana revolutionary Zoila (Soy-la) Guerra who’s name phonetically translates as “I am War.” The space was purchased by Zoila’s grandson decades later and continues to be a community staple and living art space. Today, this essential community safe-haven is at risk of becoming another commercial property in the Miami/Wynwood area. Music Videos, Murals, Festivals, Youth Programing, and countless other projects have manifested on the grounds of Esquina De Abuela and now the community’s help is needed for the space to thrive.

The organizers of EXHALE Miami were referred to the property owner, Fabian, and fell in love with the history, art, and story that enveloped the undeniably sacred grounds. After meeting Fabian on the property there was no question that this space was the heart and soul of the community existing just outside of Wynwood. EXHALE routinely seeks local community organizations to partner with and fundraise for so the space and need was in full alignment.
10% of EXHALE Miami event proceeds will be donated to Esquina De Abuela to help with their community fundraiser. To donate directly to the facility visit their gofundme.
The 5-Hour event includes a Hemp & Wellness Market, Art Exhibition, SoundBath, LIVE DJ, Infused Brunch & Mimosa Bar, Flowers & Poetry Segment, Giveaways, & more. EXHALE Miami is proudly supported by The Herbal Heart Study, Canna Town, and The Highly Connected App.
